Privacy Policy
RunTogether ("we", "us") helps runners discover and join group runs nearby. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information we collect
Account & profile
- Email address (required for sign-in)
- Display name, optional bio, optional city, typical pace
- Profile color and avatar symbol you pick in the app
Runs & activity
- Runs you create or join: title, date, time, distance, pace, neighborhood, and the approximate start coordinates you pin on the map
- Participation and RSVP status
- Ratings and optional written notes you and other runners leave for each other after a run
- Messages you send in a run's chat
- Reports and blocks you submit
Location
- We use your device's approximate location only while the app is open to center the map and show nearby runs. We do not track your location in the background.
- You can decline location access; the app will still work using a default map region.
Apple Health (optional)
- If you connect Apple Health, we read your running workouts (distance, pace, duration, and route) from the Health app on your device to show your stats and heatmap. Aggregate stats are stored in your profile; your raw route data stays on your device. You can disconnect at any time from your profile, and revoke access entirely in Settings › Health.
2. How we use information
- To operate the core service: showing runs near you, letting you RSVP, chat, and rate.
- To keep the community safe (handling reports and blocks).
- To send transactional emails (sign-in confirmation, password reset).
We do not run ads and do not use your data for advertising or third-party analytics tracking.
3. Sharing
Your display name, avatar, city, pace, posted runs, and ratings you've received are visible to other signed-in RunTogether users. Email addresses are never shown to other users.
We use the following service providers strictly to deliver the app:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and storage (EU/US infrastructure).
- Apple Maps — map tiles and reverse geocoding.
- Apple Health — only if you connect it; data is read on-device.
4. Data retention & deletion
You can permanently delete your account from Profile → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and removes your profile, hosted runs, RSVPs, ratings, messages, photos, friendships, and any synced health stats. Reports submitted by others may be retained in anonymized form for safety auditing.
5. Children
RunTogether is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.
6. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access is restricted by row-level security policies. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (EEA, UK, California, etc.) you have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Most of these are available directly in the app; for anything else, email us.
8. Changes
We'll update this page if the policy changes. Material changes will be highlighted in-app.
